The claims of the author and his friend are very different than what I have experienced in my limited time racing ultramarathons. However, the responses, filled with hate from the first instant, are also very different than common ultramarathon behavior. If anything, the vitriol is evidence for the author’s claims. I applaud Hoka for backing out. It sounds like they weren’t going to initially, but decided it was the correct course of action when the hate mongers revealed their true colors and underlying racist belief systems.
